Cardiac Syndrome X is symptoms of angina, chest pain. The majority of patients suffering from angina have atherosclerotic plaque build up narrowing their arteries and decreasing the blood flow and oxygen supply to the affected muscle resulting in pain. Atherosclerosis is shown on a coronary angiogram. However, roughly 20% of patients suffering from angina show normal coronary angiograms (no or little atherosclerotic plaques). This 20% have a condition that has been named cardiac syndrome X.
